My Not so Sweet, Sweet Sixteenth.

I have been waiting to turn 16 since....well forever. And this week i finaly did! But sadly it was not the kind of day I want to remember.

This week was the last week of school so the teachers stop trying to teach us crazy teenagers. instead we all just sluff as much school as we can get away with. So on Tuesday ( the day before my birthday) I sluffed school for the very first time, me and a bunch of my friends went to a park to play tag during our choir class. I was chasing after a kid when i jumped up on a slide to try and catch him. The slide had water on it and was very slippery. I slipped on the water and just caught myself before I fell off the slide. I limped off the slide and sat down to look at my very painful, rapidly swelling ankle. It hurt really bad but i had to go to my next class because my history teacher was still taking roll, and i really liked that class. So I sat through the worst History class of my life! After that I called Billy (who was also sluffing) and he came and picked me up.
The second my Mom saw my ankle she called the Doctor and got me an Appointment. I had sprained two Ligamints in my left foot and was sentenced to a couple days in crutches!
This horrible fact meant that my sweet sixteenth birthday was spent hobbling around on the devil's own form of torture! Every thing went wrong that day, all of my friends went and partied during school and I actualy had to go to class! Heaven forbid!
At around 6:30 Me and Billy should have given up on the day. We had planned to go to the year book signing stomp at the high school, but some one told us the wrong time so we arrived right when it was ending. We figured the day could only get better, so we went and saw the movie, "Up." In 3D. I highly recommend it! I liked it alot. It was the only thing that didn't disappoint me.
When we got home my ankle hurt something fierce from being on it for so long, so the day ended in tears.

On a Happier note I am having a great time being sixteen, now that my birthday is past. I went on my first date on Thursday night and it was a Blast! My date (Christopher Nay) had planned to take me to a Relient K concert, but the tickets were sold out and i could not go on crutches anyway. So he had his brother's band play for us while we ate take out Cafe Rio in theie back yard. They made me a shirt with there band name on it and signed it for me. I am going to try and pull some Royal strings and get them to play at Fire Water and Ice this summer. But any way the date was great and i am way exited to date like crazy!

Eagle project, Concerts, and Up

Well I havnt posted for a while, I was waiting for hillary to post some 3 posts to catch up with everything, but she never got around to them. I was quite busy with several things my self that i didnt get around to it either.

I just finished my eagle project on memorial day, we had around 30 people come and help with it, and we got done very fast. My project was to make fleese blankets for the Primary Childrens hospital. Now just to finish up my eagle i need to have a board of review, and then im done. My birthday is tomorrow, so i finished right at the end.

Me, John, David, and Brandon went to leatherbys to get our long awaited Cheesy fries that we were going to get the night before Emily and Davids Wedding.
Last week i had 2 big concerts, and a rehersal every day of the week, except thursday, and saturday. On Tuesday I had a Side by Side concert with the Utah Symphony. We did Wagners Lohengrin Prelude to Act 3, and Tchaikovskis Symphony no. 2. It went very well, and i was sitting in front of my future Horn professor at BYU. He congradulated on the solo I had that starts out the Tchaikovski. The concert on friday went great, it was for the Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Philharmonic Orchestra. We played Kalinnikov Symphony no. 1 and Brahms 1st Symphony. It went very well, and I will miss our horn section.

Speaking of our Horn section, one of them, Jimmy, was doing a concerto night for Olympus High school. My current horn teacher Amber Tuckness was asked to play in the orchestra for it. She called me up and said she was sick, so she asked if i could sub for her; so i did. They played 15 concerti, it was alot of sight reading, and pretty fun. The concert went for 3 hours though, so it was kinda long.

This friday I went to see UP with one of Emilys old friends from high school, Tiffany Stamm. It was a fun little movie, its kinda sad at some points, but its a nice little story. We had fun watching it, then we went to her house, and ate taco, talked, and had otter pops. It was a very fun date.

Well this is a sum up of the last 2 weeks.

Wisdom Teeth dont have to hurt....

I just got my wisdom teeth out this morning, all 4 of them. I guess it was a fun experience, i woke up and went to the wisdom teeth place. We checked in and then they had me go sit in the chair, they put those patches on to monitor my heart rate, and then they stuck the IV in. That was the only part that hurt. then i just listened to my heart beat, and then woke up, and they took me to the little waiting chair, and i felt awake who time but i guess i fell asleep. My mom brought me home, and i took 3 pills. I dont think they did much, because nothing changed. And i just ate apple sauce, and pudding. My chin is still numb, but i think ill be great for this week end.

I GOT ACCEPTED TO BYU's SCHOOL OF MUSIC, as a French Horn Music Major.

I still have to here back from the school in general, but im pretty much gauranteed acceptance. I was alittle scared at the order i would get the letters. If i got the General BYU acceptance first i wouldnt know if i made it into the music department. Im really happy for being accepted, and i thank everybody who knew i could get in.

Auditions at BYU

Yesterday i went down to BYU to audition for the school of music. I already know the Horn Professor, Larry Lowe, pretty well so right when i walked into the building i ran into him. I talked with him for a bit about Utah Youth and All State. He told me he was excited to here me audition.

In my audition he told me to play the song i chose, and then he wanted to see my range. After i played he said he really likes my sound and hopes he can accept me into the school of music, into thier horn studio. Larry is the Prinapal horn of the Orchestra at Temple Square, he also chooses his top students to perform with them. He is also in charge of all the Horn Recording in Utah, so he chooses who records for Movies, from utah. He has one CD, and another coming. He has also composed several peices for horn.

Over the summer I went to BYU for a summer music Festival. We had a busy schedule and played all week. I auditioned with the same guy, and he put me as first horn of the symphony and let me Solo in the Student Recital. It was a very fun week.

Within the next few weeks i should be hearing back from BYU to see what they decided. I post that later.

The Journey through Braces.

I first found out that is was going to be getting braces on Christmas two years ago. I was so exited, little did i know that i was embarking a pain full and frustrating process. I got my braces on on January 25, 2007. I was in 8th grad. Now almost exactly two years latter on January 26 2009 I got them off! My mouth before braces looked like a train wreck. I had an over bite that stuck out about two feet and an up jet on the bottom. I was in serious need of a head gear but my mom knew i would never be able to wear is faithfully, and they really don't use them any more. The new way of pulling back teeth is to extract two teeth from some were in the back. I had this done in July in 2007. It took forever for thous gaps to fill in! but i am so glad my Orthodontist is patient, or my teeth would not look as good as they do. My parents really trust our Orthodontist, Dr. Nelson. he was Valerie Lindsey's and Emily's Otho. He was also some of my Aunt and Uncles Doctor too. His office is all the way in Murry and it is a little out of our way to get there. but I think my mom would go to the moon and back every month just to have him work on our teeth. Today was the big day that i got them off. I could barley sleep last night i was so exited. as we drove to the appointment i was running my tounge over my teeth saying good bye to my braces, and a kept picturing all the horrible situations that would make it so i could not get them off. Like the Doctor would get in an accident on his way to work, or we would get into and accident on our way in, or they could just not get the brackets unstuck form my teeth. But we got there safe and the Doctor got there safe and they ripped them off! and now i have been de-railed ( that is what Billy calls it.)
